What is memory foam?
Memory foam is a viscoelastic material that responds to heat and pressure, taking the shape of the surface it touches and slowly returning to its original form when the pressure is removed. It was first developed in aerospace research for impact absorption in seats, then became widespread in comfort products.
Unlike classic fiber or sponge, it distributes pressure evenly across the contact surface instead of concentrating it at a single point. This makes a difference especially in sensitive areas like the head and neck.
How does it work?
Memory foam softens with body heat and shapes itself according to where the weight presses. When you rest your head, the foam slowly sinks and forms a cradle that wraps the contours of the head and neck. When you get up, the material slowly returns to its original form.
This slow return and adaptation reduces pressure points and supports the natural alignment of the spine. The result is less strain and more restful support.
Advantages
There are a few clear reasons memory foam is preferred in comfort products.

Disadvantages and things to consider
Memory foam is not ideal for every scenario; it has a few limits to know.
- Bulky: takes more space in a bag than inflatable models
- Heat: some foams can retain heat (gel-infused/perforated versions reduce this)
- There may be a slight odor on first use; it passes with airing
- Firmness is fixed; cannot be adjusted per person like an inflatable pillow
Why we make inflatable and silicone-fiber, not memory foam
Although memory foam gives wrapping support in travel, its bulk, heat retention and non-adjustable firmness do not always make it ideal for journeys. That is why we focus on two different models:
- Inflatable travel pillow: Takes a palm-sized space when deflated; you set the firmness by inflation. Ideal for frequent travel and light luggage.
- Bead silicone-fiber classic pillow: Offers full, soft and voluminous comfort; with its flexible, breathable fill it does not clump and is hygienic with its washable cover.

Memory foam care (general info)
Memory foam is usually not machine-washed directly; instead a removable, washable cover is used. Protecting the foam from moisture and airing it extend its life. By contrast, our inflatable and silicone-fiber models offer more practical hygiene: the inflatable is wiped clean and the silicone-fiber model is easily cleaned with its washable cover.
